Google and YouTube are some of the most sought after rankings, however, there is another search engine that is worth paying attention to if you are an e-commerce store and that is Amazon. Amazon is the world’s largest retailer so it makes sense that you should try and show up first on Amazon’s result pages.

In this post I’ll be explaining how you can optimise your product pages in only a few minutes.

Tips for Optimising your Product Pages

If you want to optimise your product pages then it’s best to split them into the different sections you can find on Amazon and then see how you can optimise them from there. Here is how to get started.

The Product Title

Optimising your keywords is important.

You need to have a title and subtitle on your product page and this where you should focus on making sure your keywords are optimised. Make sure your product is optimised properly by putting your keywords at the beginning of the title and make sure it sounds as natural as possible.

The Description and Meta Description Section

You need to make sure that you have a solid description about your product. Consumers want to know about your product and so does Amazon. It also helps to convert a consumer if you have a great product description. In this section you also want to make sure that you target your desired keywords. This doesn’t just help Amazon because it will also show up in other search engines if you have a keyword rich description.

There are two places where you can add in your product description, in the section lower on the page or the section just above the fold. Ideally, you should have both sections filled out.

The Product Reviews

Product reviews are something Amazon takes into consideration when ranking a product. They are a great indicator of the quality of a product and they also indicate trust. If you want to get positive reviews then there are a few things you can do:

  • Ask your customers to leave a review on the Amazon product page

  • Send an email to customers with a link prompting them to leave a review

  • Create a button on your website that makes it easy for customers to leave a review

Make sure that all your reviews are legitimate as well because Amazon has a strict policy against fake reviews. If you have any fake reviews listed or you pay someone to leave a review you could actually end up with your listing being banned.

A Few Extra Tips

Here are just a few quick tips to end this post. Make sure that all relevant information is filled out correctly. Make sure you have a quality photo, all product details are filled out, and answer any customer questions. Scott Langdon, Managing Partner of SEO Company Higher Visibility explains that your Amazon listing should always be entirely separate from your e-commerce site:

“You must optimize your product pages separately from what you’re doing on your own eCommerce website so that you don’t have any duplicate content issues. If you are trying to use the same content for Amazon optimization and on-site optimization, you’ll fail on both fronts. This is a mistake we unfortunately see eCommerce companies make all the time, particularly when it comes to a description.”

It’s also important that you realise that off-page SEO for Amazon works the same way as it does for your other webpages. So you need to be doing things that increase your visibility and in turn, boost your SEO ranking. Important activities that will help you do this include things like mentioning your product listing on different blogs and forums. These are all important activities in making sure your product is well optimised for SEO.

Have you had much success with getting your Amazon listing ranking high in search engines?
